CAREER + MONEY THINGS
Six years ago, Kylee made a promise to grow her business and get to the next level. And she did.
ZJ’s perspective chastened me a bit about my judgment of a family member.
I love it – Little Miss Moneybags is now the primary breadwinner while Peanut stays home with the kids because their nanny quit. I hope that could be us (with a real home office for me) in a few years, if we wanted.

INTERESTING THINGS
Bad Mammy shares the shocking state of maternity care in Ireland. I honestly didn’t think anyone else was as bad as we are in the US about bodily autonomy and taking care of expectant mothers. (Anyone remember that a mother in Indiana was being prosecuted for having a miscarriage?)
This defense of an ignorant mother is the first I’d heard of Vince Staples. I don’t regularly listen to rap and I don’t have great love for the misogyny that can be found there (and I’ll note no less than misogyny easily found in many other forms of music I hear more regularly) but I appreciate less the inability of a listener to be interrogative or even curious about the roots of what they hear. I appreciate the lyricism of the particularly skilled rappers. They have a way with words I only wish I could grasp. They create music that’s born of pain, fueled by harsh circumstances that most of us privileged enough to be farting around on the internet will never begin to experience, and that makes for powerful and sometimes uncomfortable music. I respect that.
