Good Things Friday (252) and Link Love
December 22, 2023
1. Oops, sort of fell down on the job on this post! It’s been A WEEK. Working til midnight most nights and still feeling like I’m a hamster in a wheel the next morning. But the week is over!
I want a cozy animal suit. Maybe a calico cat? I particularly like the raccoon. This corgi is cute too. I can’t quite bring myself to spend that kind of money on my whim. Nor can I pick a favorite. The hedgie, sloth, and red panda are also so cute!
I’m always afraid to celebrate progress food news because I get disheartened when things go the wrong way again. Exclusive: Amazon rainforest destruction slows sharply year to date, report says
I’d had this post in my tabs for the longest time, wanting to give it my full attention when I had 2.5 brain cells to spare. Turns out this was actually quite simple: How I Sell Investments To Fund My Retirement: A Step-By-Step Guide
I’ve always been suspicious of Tesla the company and the cars being more flash than quality/substance and so many reports like this seem to bear that out: Tesla blamed drivers for failures of parts it long knew were defective
Donna Freedman’s reading my mind: Do we need a little less Christmas? I’ve felt this way for years and we space the kids’ presents apart so that it’s less overwhelming.
Jan. 6 rioter nabbed in Bumble dating app sting pleads guilty to assaulting officers: The woman referred to as “Witness 1ā in Taake’s FBI affidavit has previously recalled how “comically minimal ego-stroking” from her led Trump supporters to give her information about their activities on Jan. 6.
I don’t celebrate Christmas so I’d be happy with zero! š My in laws want the kids to open everything at MY house on the 25th and absolutely not.
Hope you get some rest during the break!
š That’s really some kind of an ask, considering! Sheesh. I’m doing my best to not work too hard since I can’t really get a real break during this break.
Thanks for the shout-out! I will celebrate tomorrow at my niece’s home, with my sack of weird, frugal and outright free gifts. (Thanks, FinCon Expo Hall and coupon/rebate deals.)
We will have fun and everyone will get something they want/need. What I like is that her kids appreciate ALL gifts, even plebeian ones like the fleecy blankets she bought them one Black Friday for $2.99, probably 10 years ago. They’re still using them to wrap up in while watching movies or gaming.
DF had a major health scare a few days ago. Its solution is truly the best gift ever. (Will be writing about it soon.)
You’re welcome! I hope you had a lovely get together.
Practical gifts are the best IMO!
Really glad that there was a solution to DF’s health scare, looking forward to reading about it.
