Good Things Friday (286) and Link Love

1. Oops I forgot today was Friday! We have had so much socializing all week I can hardly find my head.
Rice truck thread is such a classic. Following it in real time was fabulous.

I misread this initially and thought she was running for governor (I saw Sacramento, not mayor 🤦🏻♀️) and was really excited for the prospect but darn, I can’t vote for her: The Epidemiologist Running for Mayor to Bring Public Health to Sacramento Politics

What is it going to take to force Citibank to back down, I wonder. Cello-playing climate activist arrested at New York Citibank protest as crackdown escalates
Another dress code that makes not a lick of sense, I hope the parents organize and make the district roll it back: Texas school bans all-black clothing, cites mental health concerns
AITA for assuming my daughter could have a 3rd plate? What is up with people and being so stingy with food? (Or maybe this one is fat shaming.) There was that woman who sent her kid’s friend’s mom a bill for their playdate, “to keep them affordable” a little while back, when they served something like a juice box and a few small snacks. Or the people trading stories about how they’d play at a friend’s house and not be allowed to eat. I don’t understand this at all. We’re babysitting this week and the kids’ mom was going to send food. What? I’m minding the kids, of course we are gonna feed them! Breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, more snack, dinner, the works. If they have specific needs it’s good to know ahead of time so I can accommodate, but bottom line if you’re at my house, you should not go hungry. (This is, of course, a luxury that we do not have to worry about the cost of 2-3 extra mouths at the table. I don’t discount that, or take that for granted. But it’s also the most base level of hospitality ingrained in me that you serve SOMETHING, no matter how poor you are, to your guests.)
I hope this is actually helpful, we need it: White House launches broad new regulatory effort, as Harris prepares to unveil economic plan

Also good news although I do wonder how much power the FTC (or any agency) still retains to enforce something like this after the overturning of Chevron v.: FTC bans fake online reviews, inflated social media influence; rule takes effect in October
