Good Things Friday (296) and Link Love

1. We voted!!!! The local races were the hardest for me to work through. Also resisting the impulse to put a big X through TFG’s name on the ballot.
2. It’s hard to explain what life is like for us with my chronic health stuff and how much harder it is to cope with hits like a feverish preschooler or a grade schooler running into trouble with their schoolwork or classmates on top of being beyond maxed out at work. I don’t often try to explain. So when a friend reacts with what might seem like over the top sympathy for a new hit landing squarely on my metaphorical jaw, it’s kind of nice that they understand.

For Many Autistic Women, High Masking Leads to Long-Term Burnout
This was interesting as I’ve got autistic friends with whom I’m very comfortable, arguably most comfortable with, and while I don’t have behaviors I hide that come to mind easily, I definitely have a set of learned behaviors that I put together, carefully gathered from the non-evil charismatic people in my life, to help me pass better as a human or as a professional adult.

I’m sorry to hear about a metaphorical jaw-punch!
Yay for having voted! I think today is my day. There are 18 people running for 3 spots in my city council district and I’m frankly overwhelmed by choice, even with ranked choice being offered for the first time. I wish we could vote in chunks because I do know a ton of what I’m doing.
18 people!! That is so many people for three spots. I was feeling overwhelmed by 2-3 people per council seat. Fingers crossed that you get the best people for the job.
I also voted while working my early voting shift! I was a little surprised how many people clearly had already decided for the presidential race and then also clearly took a lot of time to decide on the down ballot races. I definitely had already made those choices but I also spend a lot more time staring at empty ballots than your average voter.
Yay!!
I had to sit down with our sample ballot for two weekends to do what research I could before marking up our ballots and I still got some wrong 😵💫
