Good Things Friday (365) and Link Love

1. This line makes me laugh out loud every time I read it: “Oh thank the stars.” Caldenia exhaled. “No offense to your cooking, but the thought of going back to it was causing me actual anxiety.”
Helping folks: Watching Minnesotans helping their neighbors has been an extraordinary experience. Ashley Fairbanks built this site, Keep MN Housed, and through it, people from all over have been able to pitch in to help the community organizers on the ground. I’m glad they’re getting some attention and I hope it brings continual support. They’re on my list each week. I also hope that our communities can learn from this to effectively fight back when it comes home.

This makes me need to scream very loudly: Trump administration is sending pregnant migrant girls to South Texas shelter flagged as medically inadequate. I don’t know how we can help these specific kids in this facility but we donate regularly to The Young Center for Immigrant Children’s Rights, KIND, and Mid-South Immigration Advocates (a lawyer friend worked there and vouches for them) to support advocacy for kids and survivors of domestic violence. It doesn’t feel like enough. Short of breaking them out and settling them into safe housing with access to adequate healthcare, nothing feels like enough. I hate the reality we live in.
Giant tortoises return to Galápagos island after nearly 200 years “The release of 158 captive-bred juvenile tortoises onto the island is part of the Floreana Ecological Restoration Project led by the Galápagos National Park Directorate.”
Being pro-ICE is being pro-Nazi. We all know that per Captain America and the rules of decency that if you see a Nazi you punch a Nazi, so by that math, the punching kid deserves accolades for doing the right thing. Spud can go fuck himself. Student who punched another student holding pro-ICE sign at Lake Zurich High School received 2-day suspension

I’m glad people are still showing up loudly: Hundreds of United Methodists rally to dismantle ICE outside Capitol
