Leave U.S., Pay IRS Taxes Forever. I feel like this headline really understates how freaking expensive it is to leave the US. They charge $2350 to relinquish your passport? You have to pay an exit tax as if you sold all your property! Good grief. So you either pay double taxes for as long as you’re abroad or you pay a forkton to leave. And people act like it’s easy to just up and move.

Pay people, Hilton, FFS. A 50 cent an hour pay raise is insulting.
We’re Sleepwalking Into the Age of Extinction. It’s Humanity vs Extinction — And the Clock is Ticking. Boy this is how I feel about the world right now. We do our part which is hardly even a drop in the bucket and the big actions that will make any real difference has to be taken at a national and global level but it won’t be unless and until our leaders get their heads out of the clouds/sand/other parts. I was expecting this to be an obnoxious founder type story but I cried instead. More people should feel a duty to their community this way.
1/ A decade ago, one of my best friends took over his family’s electrical business and worked 6 days a week to grow the company. He recently achieved a generational wealth level exit.
He told me a story once that helped me understand how his family achieved such success.

Saw someone say that Jorts the cat only came into our internet lives six months ago and I feel like I need to crouch on the floor and do some slow deep breathing because truly I have no concept of the passage of time

Awwww that thread. Being of service pays off.
I’m trying to be even more good about recycling and composting and minimising waste but also feeling very hopeless in general (also I say this but how many wipes did I use on cleaning up a potty accident today?!) There’s a thread I’m watching about how apparently our cleaners at work said that our kitchen recycling and rubbish all just gets bundled together and sent to landfill (need to check on updates on that next week) and if that’s true, that breaks me a little bit.
We’ve had the same info about recycling just being dumped into landfill and I really don’t want to believe that even this one thing we can do isn’t helpful at all.
