1. Things I got done despite marrow-deep exhaustion and illness (in addition to bare survival): dealt with a post office issue, oversaw the addressing and stamping of our new year cards, cooked a nourishing and tasty chicken broth with ginger. Contacted all our Congresspeople to encourage them to keep voting NO on the Laken Riley Act (which is so dangerous for minorities, doesn’t matter if we’re “legal” or not) and to actually stand up against this presidential administration. (I’m furious that they passed it. So that sort of takes away from the “good” aspect. This is open season on minorities, because a false accusation’s free and still gets people deported under this act.)
2. Treated myself to a Cinnabon this week. Delicious but holy crap they’re pricy now.
3. I don’t think there’s ever been a song that I’ve heard Kelly Clarkson song that didn’t sound amazing. I didn’t know she covered “It’s Quiet Uptown” years ago.
Courtney Milan shared these in her newsletter: “In all of these cases, I personally know someone who is connected to these families, and who has vouched for their authenticity.”
1. We tried a build your own poke bowl bar at a super fancy grocery store when we were out of town and it was So Good. I would absolutely love to spend $20 on a bowl chock full of poke and make some rice to go with it at home – that one bowl made 1.5 meals for us.
1. I’ve made one small dent in each of the three messes: my office, JB’s room, and Smol Acrobat’s room. Work in progress.
Challenges this week: we need to figure out our home and auto insurance. They are EXPENSIVE.
Not good: net neutrality was struck down by the federal court. (I mistyped feral and honestly, how wrong is that, really?) Watching Celeste Pewter for more news.
1. I FINALLY tackled 2/3 of the wall boxes! You know the boxes that get piled against a wall “for now” that then grow into mountains as people stack things on top of those boxes “for a minute” and eventually there is no hope of reclaiming that space? I’ve reclaimed 2/3 of it! That last third, or quarter, of the pile remains, slightly mocking me, but that’s still progress.
1. I got to pet TWO dogs this week, total strangers but lovely and friendly.
2. I can hardly believe I’ve survived yet another one of these harrowing weeks of overwork but here we are on Friday. There have only been 3 meltdown level clashes with the kids this week, mainly Smol Acrobat, so that’s better than usual. That’s good, I only have so much left in me.
