Revanche and Single Ma’s $5K/5K Challenge
May 3, 2010
In one month, Single Ma of Fabulous Financials fame is going to take the leap into her first 5K race! Having blazed the trail to financial success in her life, she’s refocused her intensity on a new frontier. If you’ve missed her fabulous (of course) tweets in the past few months, she’s been making major changes in her lifestyle, overhauling her eating habits and kicking the crud out of the Couch to 5K program.
She starts official training for the 5K today, Sunday May 2nd. Starting at the same time, I will be “running” alongside her in the saving spirit – I will aim to save $5000 between May 2nd through June 5th.
Will you join us in Financial and Physical Fitness?
Stay tuned for the details!
Can’t join you in the challenge I’m afraid, but I can wish you luck; good luck š

What a fabulous idea! I have to think of a goal. At the moment, I’m meeting all my financial goals (!! so happy), but I’ll try to add another to tweak my frugality further.
5K?!! That’s crazy, but very doable. I don’t even make that much in a month, so I’m pretty sure I can’t save that kind of dough, but I’ll be rooting for both you and Single Ma!!!
I like it! Criminey, it must be great minds in the same path: I was just about to blog along the same lines!!
The whole Semi-Demi-Exboyfriend gerzillion-bypass episode has been a wake-up call for this old bat: gotta get back into shape…
Aiming to save $5k within a month is a great goal to have! Good luck.
I’m looking forward to joining the 5k program in the fall. Right now my little one is still with me most of the day & only going to kindergarten in the afternoon for 2.5 hours.
I don’t think I can do the $5,000 challenge, but I’m gearing up towards the SF Marathon Progressive 5K race, which will be held this July. That, I can do.
I’ll be rooting for you!
Unfortunately, I don’t even make 5K in one month, either.
Wow! Great goal!
I certainly cannot do $5k in one month but I can do a 5k…if my ribs heal lol
Yay! We’re about to get it IN!
Ooo I like the idea of a challange. Let’s see!
You mean fiscal and physical fitness? (Sorry, couldn’t resist). Great idea! I’m currently training for a 14 mile run on 3 beaches…brutal but beautiful. Good luck with your saving!
I love the idea, and have adopted the challenge in terms of setting some physical fitness goals. The financial $5K is a huge challenge for me, but what I can do is what I’ve already set as my May goal which is to put all monies from sales on eBay & Amazon towards my emergency fund. I’ll tally at the end of the month and post the numbers.
I’ll be rooting for you both!
@Laura: I think your name says it all though!
@Frugal Scholar: Oh do please, let me know what you’ve decided!
@Investing Newbie: It’s CRAZY and I have no idea if it’s doable. But I don’t care! I just want to say $5K and do my best. Join in with whatever number you want!
@Funny: Indeed! Glad you’re on board!
@Jersey Mom: I hope you’ll blog about your 5K when it comes up!
@Ciawy: Definitely doesn’t have to be a whole $5K!
@aspiringminimalist: It’s all about doing just a little bit better. I like to set lofty goals is all š
@Karen: Heal thy ribs! Then we’ll talk š
@Single Ma: YEAH!
@Serendipity: It makes a chore lots more fun.
@Shelley: Hehe, surprised you’re the only one who noted that š
Hope you’ll have some pictures of your run, sounds wonderful (and painful).
@DD: Welcome!
