I read that article yesterday, too. Frightening. But I also think there is an added level of initiative in requesting a raise that the article didn’t talk about.

Yes, it is frightening. I know that I’m very lucky to have held out AND gotten a job in my field trying out what I wanted to try, and wonder if and when my luck is going to run out.
And even though I made myself do it a few months ago (despite my doomsaying nervousness), I still feel very uncomfortable asking for a raise.
