Forget luck, starting to feel downright persecuted

February 13, 2009

Am I numb because I’ve balanced out negative thoughts with positivity this week? Or is it because … well … it figures??

The car is totaled. It will cost more to fix than the book value. After the deductible, after they cut the check, after the car is paid off, we’ll have a bit more than $3000 in cash. Instead of a working family sedan.

Now we need to car hunt.

I’d curse but I just don’t have it in me.

Less than a month since you sold the truck, naturally.
So sorry, hon. We should hunt Murphy down and shoot him.

  2. L.A. Daze says:

Oh no! I’m so sorry to hear this. What a headache. Does anything ever go right?

I saw on the news that car dealerships are having great deals. 0% interest and cash back, not one or the other.

Are you looking to buy new or used?

    *big hug*

  3. Sense says:

UGH. This is going around lately. I’m SO bummed for you.

$3K is enough to get a (very) used car… It sounds like your parents get in accidents alot, so it doesn’t make sense to get something new, anyway. get something safe and that qualifies for the cheapest insurance rates! Put your dad on the case.

  4. Miss M says:

You cannot catch a break lately. I’m with PA, let’s go get that murphy guy. I’ll bring Mr M, he’s big and scary.

Buy your parents a beater, if they’re just gonna wreck it why spend a lot of money.

  5. Revanche says:

paranoidasteroid: Never rains, but it pours, I guess. Two weeks!

L.A. Daze: LOL. I’m sure it does. Somewhere.

I really don’t want another car payment when the job situation is up in the air, so I’m pushing for a used car. Under $5k. Probably pushing my luck.
    Thanks!

Sense: It seems like they do, now. Dad never used to – this is his first crash in something like 15 years? 20? But it’s time to downgrade the car.

Miss M: Alright, NOW we’ve got a posse. Let me know which weekend works for y’all! šŸ™‚

  6. Karen says:

I can clean my calendar to join the Murphy-chasing posse!
I hope you find a great deal on a used car.
Isn’t in Hyundai that has the deal going on that if you lose your job within a year of buying (leasing?) a new car, you can return it?

  7. Money says:

I’m so sorry! That’s absolutely wretched. *Hugs*

  8. E.C. says:

Gah, I’ll join the Murphy-hunting-posse. Do you want me to curse for you?

  9. Revanche says:

    notesfromthefrugaltrenches: Thanks.

Karen: Great, I’m making name tags for everyone now.
I think it’s Hyundai, but I don’t want to pay car insurance for a new car.

    Money: Appreciate the support šŸ™‚

E.C.: Perfect, we’re up to even numbers, now. Please do curse for me. Still too deflated.

  10. Karen says:

revanche: I forget that new car insurance is high; I’ve always maintained full coverage. At least for the last 8 years/3 vehicles.
Shall our name tags be harbingers? Someone can be Death, Dimemberment, Disembowelment, Dysentery (alliteration is fun).
ok done making lame jokes, back to work!
