This year’s most ridiculous freebie

December 24, 2009

What would you call this garment?

It’s not anywhere dignified enough to be a sweater dress. It’s made of a jersey/sweatshirt material.  It’s got a zipper halfway down the front, a hood, and I do believe that’s the most obnoxious color scheme ever. Teal? Aqua teal?  Stripes?  It’s like a train wreck of a clothing article.  Wearing it with leggings confused the heck out of my male friends: “What … what IS that you’re wearing?  Seriously, what is that thing called?”

Guys, I have no idea.

A girlfriend gave it to me because “I always think I can wear a child’s Large and, well, no, no, you should take it.”  And I LOVE it.  It’s so soft and comfortable, snug across the middle and arms, long enough to keep me warm to the knees and a hood!  A hood to keep my head warm while snuggling into another volume of 100 Bullets or Terry Pratchett that I wanted to wear it all the time.  I’d just pull on over anything I was wearing for another layer of cozy.

This has to be my most ridiculous, yet best loved, freebie of the year.  What’s yours?

  1. A freebie I got from this eco-friendly store I’ll be doing a giveaway for in Jan

I LOVE THE SCARF I can’t stop playing with it, wearing it… it’s the perfect cosy-cuddly neck scarf

I love it! I was starting to take offense when you called the color obnoxious. But since you say you love the item… I agree!

Off-topic, but I wanted to tell you that I found my way to your “about me” page and all the posts it links to, and I am making my way through, with great interest. I wish I were able to tell my story as well and as coherently as you tell yours. I’m not sure mine is as interesting. You are inspiring me to make some more efforts at it, though!

  3. A hoodie-frockie? It looks nice and warm. Since it was 53 in the house when I rolled out of bed at 9:00 a.m., i wouldn’t mind having one of those myself!

I have no clue what you call that “thing!”

But I now feel better about the dark green Snuggi one of my daughters gave me for Christmas. It’s ugly, it’s got stupid sleeves, only an idiot would use it, and it’s so dang warm and cozy that I make up excuses to wind up on couch wrapped up in it!

@FB: Oohh foreshadowing! 🙂 Now how are you going to give it away? Or will they be providing another?

@444: LOL, take offense because you like the color? Because it looks a whole lot better in the picture than it does in person.

You do realize that “may you live an interesting life” is a curse, right? 😉 Thanks for the compliment, though, I’m glad you’re able to follow the narrative.

@Funny about Money: Brrrr, I hate getting out of bed on cold mornings. That’s why I’ll sleep in it, sometimes.

@Grace: We ought to band together as owners of terribly ugly cozy things.

I don’t actually have a problem with the colour scheme at all! But as a concept, it’s truly heinous – no wonder it’s so comfy 😛

OMG! My granddaughter has that dress! (She just turned 5 and is probably growing out of it now & passing it to her 3 yr old sister.)

It really is comfy though. I just couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw the picture & recognized it.
