Good Things Friday (303) and Link Love
December 13, 2024
1. I got to pet TWO dogs this week, total strangers but lovely and friendly.
2. I can hardly believe I’ve survived yet another one of these harrowing weeks of overwork but here we are on Friday. There have only been 3 meltdown level clashes with the kids this week, mainly Smol Acrobat, so that’s better than usual. That’s good, I only have so much left in me.

Decentralized social networks may be the new model for social media, but their lack of a central moderation function make it more difficult to combat online abuse.

This helps remind me why we’re not adopting yet, I’m not quite ready for the possible merry go round of dog emergencies yet. New roof first: Charles Tubbins, French Bulldog of Adventure
Congress Introduces Bills to Break Up UnitedHealth Group. While I’m deeply skeptical that they have the right guy, paying attention to the fact that so many people have been wronged by so many health insurance providers is long overdue. Honestly the whole industry is horrific and needs to be completely overhauled so that healthcare providers can provide adequate care for their patients, work reasonable hours, and be fairly compensated. Patients should be able to get the care they need in a timely way, with someone who oversees their care and coordinates it so that they’re not wasting time and money on unnecessary duplicated diagnostics. At a minimum we should all have our health issues addressed adequately.
