Good Things Friday (353) and Link Love

December 5, 2025

It’s been 14-16 hour work days all week and I have got to find a way not to do this anymore.

Just a little link love

What the hell is wrong with people, I wonder daily. And again, reading this: Experience: I was stabbed in the back with a real knife while performing Julius Caesar

TIL from Angeles Crest Creamery: For a long time the discussion about preventing fires has been focused on the kind of thinning that makes sense in forests to the north. After many years of advocacy, sometimes by methods not appreciated by everyone, the California Chaparral Institute has finally made a dent in the conversation.

Summary: You can’t thin chaparral, you can only clear it. And when you do that, you make room for even more flammable invasive grasses. Instead, maybe try to prevent fires from starting, since almost all SoCal fires have human causes (since lightening is rare). The CCI sued to pause Cal Fire’s planned clearing of native vegetation and won. Now at least Cal Fire’s preventative fuel reduction planning can consider a more complete range of ecological understanding and potential outcomes.

This seems really neat: New EV battery recycling process recovers 99% pure nickel and cobalt
The method eliminates the need for strong acids and complex extraction steps used in conventional recycling.

Vital Cat Update I’m saving this for JB to read. Maybe sooner than later.
