1. At first I was positively astonished that Biden bowed out and was a touch skeptical that this country will elect the first female and Black president. That was in the first hour of the announcement. I was imagining total chaos in the wake of his stepping down. I wanted to hold out hope because a baked potato would be better than Trump, never mind a relatively reasonable human with relevant experience.
Now I’m relieved at how the whole thing was managed to give her support immediately. I won’t pretend that I personally like Harris. I don’t know enough about her to say yet and I’m not a fan of the cult of personality type politics. However she does have a body of experience that’s highly relevant and she came out of the gate strong and that gives me hope. I do like the possibility that she might be a leader we can accomplish good things with even if we have to push her to them. We all know that’s absolutely nothing like what we’d get out of a second TFG presidency.

1. I treated myself to a $5 body wash in hopes it would smell super fruity (pink lemon and mandarin orange) and it’s totally what I hoped for but also it’s basically grapefruit.

1. Half the potato plants are turning yellow and brown. Sooooon, we harvest! 🤞🤞🤞
2. So far I’ve spotted two blueberries on the bush. Maybe we’ll have as many as three this season? Once again I’m so grateful this is a hobby and not a need.

1. I was very proud of myself for managing to get the kids rounded up to go to the mall and return some poorly chosen purchases over the weekend. Physical errands have mostly fallen to PiC since COVID and while I’ve been to that shopping center dozens of times to grab takeout, I have never gone in to do any shopping related activities. This felt like a minor victory that I could scrape together the time and energy.
2. Of course then I had to nap afterwards because I’d spent the whole morning doing chores and morning the kids solo. But rest was also a good thing even if I resented it.

1. I finally tackled the linen closet with an armload of compression bags and organized every room’s bedding into their own labeled bag. It doesn’t look a great deal different from before but tis vastly more functional. I’ll know exactly which bag to take the sheets from for each bed and I’ll know where all the pillowcases are because they’re all in one bag. I’d tried the stuff all the sheets and pillowcases in a pillowcase method but then I couldn’t tell which set was complete with matching pillowcase. Now it doesn’t matter, I can grab a sheet set and then pick a set of pillowcases from the pillowcase bag. Very satisfying.
Challenges this week: Smol Acrobat’s going through an unbelievably grumpy big dramatic feelings phase. Any tiny disagreement will send them into a total meltdown.
