Good Things Friday (101) and Link Love

January 22, 2021

1. I suddenly lost part of my sense of taste this week and it was easy to get a COVID test booked for two days later. This shouldn’t be a surprise but friends and family in CA have very recently struggled for days to get any appointments so I’m highly aware of our good fortune. And unlike the last time we did this, I only waited in line for about 5 minutes, not 55.

2. The results came in the same night: negative.

3. We talked to some local friends with a kiddo close to JB’s age about doing outdoor masked walks together and they were amenable! Thank goodness.

We’re working out details.

4. We’ve agreed to apply for a daycare slot for Smol Acrobat just in case anything opens up that we’re comfortable with. The nonrefundable application fee is $100 and we can (like our friends) indefinitely keep bumping back a start date if we need to until we’re ready to use them.

5. I made chocolate zucchini muffins and they were a big hit with the family. I didn’t like them much, too light and fluffy, but they had takers. Mostly I’m pleased that’s one less zucchini I had to eat like an adult.

Challenges this week: I made a huge gaffe early this week and it’s still unresolved today which makes me feel like a terrible person.

My emotions are so confused. “Hallelujah” has always made me cry since it was paired with that West Wing episode (SPECIAL AGENT SIMON DONOVAN *sobs*) but the creativity of this song and the adorableness of these kids singing … So so confused.

Who knew that search and rescue wolverines were a thing? But also how can we be sure they won’t eat their rescue subject? Not to malign them or anything, it’s just that they do eat Large Game (caribou and moose, what’s a person to them?)

  1. So happy for the negative COVID test. Great news! Re: the gaffe, hopefully you are able to resolve it to your satisfaction, because having it hanging over you is no fun. Good luck with that. I hate it when I do something to embarrass myself, or hurt others, even unintentionally.

      Thanks!

And thanks, I absolutely hate that too. I’ve done what I can, the ball is now out of my court. We’ll see what happens.

Eeek! What was the explanation for the lost sense of taste? Hope you’re still fine and you stay fine.
